Vice-Premier Wang Yang hailed more cooperation between China and Cuba in fields such as infrastructure construction and renewable energy in Havana on June 25.

During a meeting with Raul Castro, president of Cuba’s Council of State and the Council of Ministers, Wang delivered greetings and good wishes from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

Wang called on the two sides to implement the agreements reached between Xi and Castro during Xi’s visit to the country last year, thus deepening the China-Cuba friendship.

He suggested efforts to plan for future bilateral cooperation and achieve more cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, biotechnology, agriculture and renewable energy.

The vice-premier also briefed the Cuban leader about ongoing comprehensive deepening reform in China.

Castro, who asked Wang to convey his greetings to Xi and Li, said his country is willing to work with China in pushing forward the Cuba-China relationship and invigorating bilateral cooperation.

Cuba is willing to strengthen exchanges with China on governance experience and learn from China’s reform and opening up, he said.

He also expressed the hope that the two countries could increase mutual understanding and support in global affairs.
