State Council appoints officials

The State Council, China’s cabinet, has appointed several senior officials, according to a circular issued on July 19.

-- Liu Hui was named vice director of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. Li Zhao no longer holds the post.

-- Liu Xiaoming was appointed vice minister of the Ministry of Transport.

-- Liu Yaming and Lu Guihua were nominated vice ministers of the Ministry of Water Resources. Jiao Yong was removed from the post.

-- Li Gang was named vice director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. Ren Qiliang no longer holds the post.

-- Xu Lin has replaced Lu Wei as the head of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs and the deputy director of the State Council Information Office.

-- Su Quanli was appointed deputy chief of the National Railway Administration in place of Zhu Wangyu.

-- Zheng Wei was nominated deputy head of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange.

-- Wei Shanzhong has replaced Liu Yaming as the director of the Changjiang Water Resources Commission.

-- Wang Zhimin was removed from the post of deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and was nominated head of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao Special Administrative Region. Li Gang no longer holds the post.

-- Sharhat Ahan was named deputy political commissar of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps in place of Xu Weihua.

-- Shen Yang was appointed permanent representative of China to UNESCO, replacing Zhang Xiuqin.

-- Pan Ligang was removed from the post of vice minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

-- Chen Baosheng no longer holds the post of deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Governance.
