China reviewing effects of TPP

BEIJING — China is assessing the effects of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, according to the Ministry of Commerce on Nov 6.

The full TPP text was released on Nov 5, one month after twelve Pacific rim countries inked the deal on the largest free trade area in the world.

China is open to any trade mechanism as long as it follows the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and is advantageous to the economic integration of the Asia-Pacific region, Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng said last month.

“China hopes the TPP pact and other free trade arrangements in the region can complement each other and contribute to Asia-Pacific trade, investment and economic growth,” said the commerce minister.
