State Councilor Yang Jiechi and visiting European Parliament President Martin Schulz agreed to further promote the China-Europe relationship during their meeting in Beijing on March 16.

Yang said China always considers Europe an important force in the international arena and is committed to supporting European integration.

China is dedicated to deepen the all-around partnership with the EU based on mutual benefits, he said.

While the two sides have already decided to advance the partnership for peace, growth, reform and civilization, Yang said China hopes to further invigorate bilateral ties as this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the China-EU diplomatic relationship.

For his part, Schulz said the European Parliament is willing to make further efforts in promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the EU and China.
