Premier Li Keqiang inspected the construction of smart city in Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, on Dec 11.

The city endeavors to fully tap the potential of big data to build 71 application systems including smart urban management, smart healthcare, smart elderly care and smart education.

Local officials demonstrated to the Premier the city’s smart transport system, which collects the data of traffic conditions and parking lots across the whole city, and is able to give real-time forecast of traffic jam and parking guidance.

Premier Li said urban traffic in Wuhan is very complex and special. The use of big data will not only effectively ease traffic congestion, but make the city “smarter” to better serve its residents.
