Premier Li Keqiang emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in East Asia during the 11th East Asia Summit on Sept 8.

He quoted an old Laotian saying, “A fence cannot be built with a single stake and a village cannot achieve happiness without villagers’ joint efforts”, adding that he hopes all parties can push forward cooperation and promote regional peace and prosperity.

After the summit, Premier Li attended the ceremony launching the joint statement on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) with shareholder leaders, including those from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Participants took a group photo at the ceremony.

The RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between ASEAN’s 10 member states and the six countries that have FTAs with ASEAN: China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia and New Zealand.
