A welcoming ceremony was held on August 18 by Premier Li Keqiang for Aung San Suu Kyi, the visiting Myanmar State Counselor, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

During their meeting, both leaders agreed to maintain mutual respect, strengthen political trust and cooperation, and promote the Sino-Myanmar relationship based on the “Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence”, which was issued by China in 1953.

It is Suu kyi’s first official visit to China.
