Premier Li meets with Greek PM

Premier Li Keqiang met with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, on May 13.

Premier Li lauded China-Greece friendship, as this year is the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. He highlighted the cooperation on the Piraeus Port project, saying that both sides should expand pragmatic cooperation in infrastructure construction, electricity, energy, finance, cultural industry and people-to-people exchanges.

The Premier also expressed his hope that as a member country of the European Union, Greece could push forward the China-Europe relationship.

He called on the two countries to join hands to push free and convenient trade investment, build a better future for China-Greece and China-Europe cooperation, send active signals on economic development, livelihood improvements and closer cooperation to make contributions to the world’s peace, stability and prosperous development.

Tsipras said that Greece is glad to deepen cooperation with China in construction of Piraeus Port, and increase win-win cooperation in energy, communication, manufacturing, infrastructure construction and finance.

He also pledged to promote the development of the China-Europe relationship.
