Premier Li Keqiang said during a State Council executive meeting this week that the third nationwide inspection plays a big role in promoting social and economic development.

The inspection carried out in 2016 covered 31 provinces and cities, and Xinjiang’s production and construction group, and included 30 major departments of central government.

The inspection evaluated major policies introduced by government such as boosting stable economic growth, pushing forward supply-side reform, promoting the spirit of mass innovation and entrepreneurship, and improving people’s well-being.

The focus of the inspection was to ensure full implementation of the work arranged by the central government.

In addition, the inspection adopted incentive measures to motivate local governments and inspire better performance. For example, a mechanism was established to allow local governments to make mistakes when they intend to make headway in promoting administrative reforms.
