The spirit of craftsmanship should be promoted among young people, according to an instruction sent by Premier Li Keqiang ahead of the World Youth Skills Day, which will be observed on July 15.

Young people are national treasures and the backbone to advance economic and social development, said the Premier, adding that they should be the main forces to implement innovation-driven development strategies and promote mass entrepreneurship and innovation.

According to Premier Li, the purpose to organize activities on the World Youth Skills Day is to create a social atmosphere where labor and skills are respected.

Authorities and departments should carry out measures to create a favorable environment and cultivate a group of qualified and highly-skilled young talents, with the goal of promoting upgrades of Made-in-China products and facilitating medium-to-high growth of the Chinese economy, he noted.
