Premier Li Keqiang presided over a meeting on Jan 14 of the leading Party Members’ Group of the State Council - aimed at implementing a strict anti-corruption and austerity campaign. President Xi Jinping proposed the campaign at the fifth plenary of the 18th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection the previous day.

Anti-corruption and austerity measures were given great prominence last year; and positive results were seen.

The meeting decided the government will continue the campaign to create a clean economic and social environment for development, and stressed the authorities will continue to have “zero tolerance” toward corrupt members.

The meeting decided to make urgent preparations for the third anti-corruption and austerity work conference of the State Council.

Other members who attended the meeting included Vice-Premiers Zhang Gaoli, Liu Yandong, Wang Yang and Ma Kai; and State Councilors Yang Jing, Chang Wanquan, Yang Jiechi, Guo Shengkun and Wang Yong.
