Premier heads to Ludian, Yunnan to direct quake relief efforts

Premier Li Keqiang is leading senior officials to Ludian, Yunnan province to examine the situation of a 6.5-magnitude earthquake and instruct the quake relief in the morning of Aug 4.

At least 381 people died as of 8:40 am on Aug 4, rescuers said. The quake occurred at 4:30 pm on August 3 with a depth of 12 km. The epicenter was at Longtoushan township, 23 km southwest of the county seat of Ludian.

After the earthquake, relevant departments of the State Council and local governments, following instructions from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, swiftly initiated emergency rescue efforts.
