At Mianyang city, in Sichuan province, a special group wedding was held in line with this year’s Dragon Boat Festival.

One hundred couples gathered in Mianyang city for a truly old-fashioned wedding. Among the newlyweds are couples who have been married for decades — the oldest ones are over 70 years.

The couples were garbed in the type of ancient costumes worn during the Han Dynasty, almost 2,000 years ago. According to a master presiding over the ceremony, the various colors and patterns of the wedding garments all had meanings.

The rituals were carried out to the very last detail. The event was organized by the Mianyang City Tourism Office, and was designed to revive peoples’ interest in traditional Chinese culture.
