More than 70 Chinese cities and counties are dropping GDP from their economic indicators list. It signals that more Chinese local governments are shifting focus from pursuit of growth at all cost, to seeking quality growth.

New metrics being included are items like agricultural development, environment protection and poverty reduction. But analysts say it remains to be seen whether the change in metrics are enough to transform economic growth models.
