Senior officials stress safe, green Military World Games

The Third Plenary Meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 7th Military World Games was held in Beijing on June 21.

Chairman of the organizing committee Xu Qiliang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan, also the chairman of the organizing committee and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Xu said work should be done to ensure personnel arrangements and the deployment of the military’s equipment and supplies during the games.

He also urged relevant departments to establish a mechanism for regular coordination and emergency coordination to solve real problems.

Saying the games are a large-scale activity, and an important opportunity for military training, he urged different departments to join hands and make good overall plans while taking care of key details.

It is also necessary to promote priority tasks, coordinate different elements, and interlink various systems and measures in a coordinated and integrated way, he added.

He also emphasized safety during the whole process.

As for her part, Sun said we must strengthen organizational leadership and give full play to the operational command system during the competition to enhance communication between military forces and local governments.

We must promote the organization of the competition and test matches in a timely manner, and ensure services are guaranteed and news about the games is promoted, she added.

We should strive to complete all tasks as scheduled in accordance with the requirements of an Olympic-standard, green, and economical games, whose venue can still be reused afterward, she said.

Those at the meeting were briefed on the progress of listed tasks for the Military World Games and the membership of the operational command system for the competition was announced.
