Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua pressed for efforts to pull off an innovative and far-reaching WorldSkills Competition while addressing the first plenary session of the 46th WorldSkills Competition leading group on Jan 30.

The WorldSkills Competition, set for 2021 in Shanghai, promotes advancing international standards in professional expertise development. Hosting the 46th WorldSkills Competition will lead to exchanges and cooperation between China and the rest of the world, China’s talent cultivation and growth of the craftsmanship spirit, Hu said.

The 46th WorldSkills Competition should be an innovative, Chinese culture-orientated, first-rate event. The up-to-date development concepts of professional skills should be widely disseminated, in a bid to stoke the passion of the Chinese people, young people in particular, for skill-honing activities.

Coordination and communication with WorldSkills International, Hu said, should be stepped up, with the coordination mechanism coming into place.

Key preparation tasks called for solid implementation, including a premium WorldSkills museum and first-class skill contest projects.

In addition, Hu also pressed for all departments concerned to stick to frugality and uprightness.
