Vice-Premier Liu Yandong urged effective preparation for the 7th Military World Games, which will be held in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, in 2019.

At a meeting on Jan 5 in Beijing to set up the organization commission of the Games, she said the stadiums and supporting infrastructure should be constructed as planned, and other issues, such as public relations, security and international communications, should also be well organized.

She also said hosting the Games is a chance to showcase China’s image and culture, promote cooperation between military and civil sectors, and enhance communication and exchanges between Chinese and foreign military.

Military World Games, which began in 1995, is held every four years. The year 2019 will be China’s first time hosting, with the slogan “Sharing Friendship, Building Peace”.

Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, also attended the meeting.
