Vice-premier stresses reform and innovation of food, drug monitoring

Vice-Premier Wang Yang, also deputy director of Food Safety Commission of State Council, urged speedier reform of food and drug safety during a visit to China Food and Drug Administration on Aug 18.

Food and drug safety issues directly impact people’s lives, he said, stressing the need to set up a supervision system covering production, circulation and consumption, perfect supervision mechanism and implement the strictest standards.

Wang fully affirmed the administration’s work on food and drug supervision after learning about its drug approval system reform and the data verification work on clinical trial and hearing the work report of the administration.

He called for innovating the supervision mechanism and approaches by deepening the reform of delegating powers, utilizing information technology, strengthening department cooperation and setting up public participation platforms.
