Vice-Premier Wang Yang pledged the government’s support for poverty-stricken counties to integrate agriculture-related funds at a teleconference on May 10.

He said the integration of agricultural funds is a key to efficient capital allocations and stable capital supplies for the poverty reduction effort.

Key poverty-relief programs will be taken as the major platform for the use of the integrated funds, the vice-premier said.

He asked that the funds for agricultural production and development and infrastructure construction be included in the integrated funds, saying that the pilot poor counties should coordinate the use of those funds.

“Pilot counties need to set key poverty-relief programs, and make detailed plans to make better use of the integrated funds,” he said.

The vice-premier urged increased support for the poverty-stricken counties and strengthened fund regulation.
