Vice-Premier Liu Yandong met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail in Cairo on March 27, during her official visit to Egypt.

Liu said that China and Egypt have been supportive, respectful and trusting of each other since the two countries established diplomatic relations. President Xi’s visit to Egypt in January injected new strength into the relationship. She said that her visit is to promote the implementation of agreements reached by the head of the two countries.

China is willing to maintain high-level communication with Egypt, enhance the development strategy connection, and promote infrastructure construction and production capacity cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, the vice-premier said. China will also actively develop cooperation in fields such as education, science and technology, culture, healthcare, and cultural relics protection, she said.

Sisi said that China and Egypt should be more supportive of each other in politics; expand economic cooperation and strengthen coordination in global and regional affairs. Egypt sees China as a priority cooperation partner in big projects, he said.

Ismail said that Egypt is satisfied with the development of the China-Egypt relationship and hopes it will be even better in the future.
