Vice-Premier Wang Yang meets New Zealand, US guests

BEIJING — Vice-Premier Wang Yang met with New Zealand guests attending the second China-New Zealand Partnership Forum and a delegation from the Biotechnology Industry Organization of the United States in Beijing on Sept 22.

Wang told the former that there was much potential for cooperation between China and New Zealand, as the two countries negotiate on an upgrade of a China-New Zealand free trade agreement.

In particular, he called for more partnerships in the dairy industry, education and tourism.

In his meeting with the US guests, Wang said developing the bio-tech industry was a strategic priority for the Chinese government. He vowed the country would better protect intellectual property rights, improve the drug approval system and introduce policies favoring development of the bio-tech industry.
