Every effort should be made and every second grabbed to conduct the search and rescue mission, Vice-Premier Ma Kai said on June 5 when he returned to Jianli county, Hubei province, where Eastern Star capsized. Relevant departments should also handle the aftermath of the tragedy carefully, he said.

Rescue workers should board the ship as soon as it is righted, and make sure they search every corner, Ma said. They should make every effort to properly handle the bodies of the victims, disclose the progress of the search and rescue work in time, and comfort the relatives of the victims, he added.

Eastern Star, the ship that capsized on the Yangtze River on June 1, was righted at around 9 am and hoisted up at 7:21 pm.
