Vice-Premier Ma Kai attended a teleconference on the placement of demobilized officers held in Beijing on April 27.

The meeting said that placement of demobilized officers is important for stable reform and development, as well as the development of the defense and military sectors. A rational placement mechanism should be developed and independent career selection should be improved, the meeting said. Employment and entrepreneurship training should be enhanced and a supportive environment created by increasing promotion guidance.

The meeting stressed that the work is an important political task — related sides should strengthen the leadership structure and take the responsibility to cooperate closely to implement policies and regulations on the issue.

Over 40,000 demobilized officers were settled nationwide last year.
