Vice-Premier Wang Yang called for new techniques and business models to help reduce poverty.

During a visit to Central China’s Henan province on Feb 13-14, the vice-premier said poverty alleviation strategies should be updated - and e-commerce, the photovoltaic industry and tourism should be developed to help pull impoverished regions out of poverty.

Additionally, policies should be improved to encourage enterprises, non-governmental organizations and individuals to take part in poverty alleviation efforts, Wang said.

Local authorities should fully implement poverty alleviation policies issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and make sure that their poverty alleviation efforts achieve practical results, he also said.

He added that local authorities should draw up different poverty alleviation plans specifically for different regions and families.
