Vice-Premier Ma Kai stressed on a national videophone conference in Beijing on Jan 15 that the reform of the pension system should be implemented steadily.

He attached great importance to the reforms which can help establish a more equal and sustainable social security system, deepen changes to income allocation and promote the restructuring of government and public institutions.

Ma explained that the reforms are to maintain original benefits, establish a new system and develop a proper transition.

He said already confirmed policies such as minimum standards of basic pension, fundamental benefits and subsidies should be steadily implemented.
