Vice-Premier Wang Yang visited cities of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Zhuhai in Guangdong province during his tour of the region from Sept 11 to 12 to carry out research on the development of foreign trade there.

He said that officials should adapt to the new normality of economic and social development, push forward programs for economic structural adjustment, transition and upgrading - and also aim to gain new competitive advantages in global markets, facilitate the steady growth of imports and exports, and build a new pattern of foreign trade.

Wang visited several local enterprises specializing in fields such as supply chains, finance, telecommunication, electronics and logistics, as well as the Dongguan customs authorities. Later, at a symposium in Zhuhai on exports and imports, he said that though the volume of China’s imports and exports has stabilized and is now recovering, the foundation for a recovery is not yet solid.

He urged officials to ensure that policies are implemented and asked them to strengthen inspection and supervision, maintain the growth of exports, further increase imports, and realize the annual growth target for foreign trade.

He said programs for economic structural adjustment, transition and upgrading are of greater significance due to international and domestic changes. And he urged officials to take all necessary measures to push forward innovation, develop new business models, prevent the slowdown in growth of international trade, optimize the structure of imports and exports and improve government services.
