State councilor holds talks with Croatian interior minister

State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi met with Croatian Minister of the Interior Davor Bozinovic in Zagreb on May 16.

Zhao hailed the vigorous development of the China-Croatia comprehensive partnership, saying cooperation in security brought remarkable achievements. Last year, the China-Croatia joint police patrol was successfully held, manifesting the deep trust between the two sides and their innovative spirit, he said.

China is willing to join hands with Croatia in enhancing security in constructing the Belt and Road, improve the mechanism of joint police patrol as well as tourism cooperation.

A secure environment is expected for trade and people-to-people exchanges, and the two countries should work together in cracking down on telecom fraud, internet crimes and other cross-border crimes, the state councilor said.

Bozinovic spoke highly of the cooperation in security, saying he hopes it can be deepened in various areas. He also called for more economic and trade cooperation, and more Chinese tourists to visit Croatia.

After the meeting Zhao and Bozinovic jointly spoke to the media.

Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council Meng Yang, External Security Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry Cheng Guoping, and Assistant Minister of Public Security Nie Furu also attended the meeting.
