State Councilor meets Kyrgyz law enforcement and security officials

State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi met with Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Internal Affairs Kashkar Junushaliev in Bishkek on May 14, and with Secretary of the National Security Council of Kyrgyzstan Damir Sagynbayev on May 15.

President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov reached important consensus during the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, injecting power into the development of bilateral relations, Zhao said. With their support, the two countries achieved fruitful results in law enforcement and security.

Zhao expressed the hope that related departments from the two countries will implement the consensus, strengthen cooperation in combating the “three forces” of terrorism, separatism and extremism, organized cross-border crime, and in anti-drug and cyber security. He also said he hoped to enhance the security cooperation system for the Belt and Road construction, protect each other’s national projects, institutions and workers.

Zhao expressed the hope that the two countries can strengthen law enforcement and security cooperation in border areas, and further promote the development of the China-Kyrgyzstan strategic partnership.

Zhao said that China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Kyrgyzstan under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), ensure the security of SCO prime ministers meeting in Bishkek, and promote a better development of SCO security cooperation.

Kyrgyzstan’s law enforcement and security officials said that Kyrgyzstan is willing to work with China in combating the “three forces” and organized cross-border crime, strengthening security cooperation for the Belt and Road construction.

After the meeting, Zhao and Kyrgyzstan’s officials witnessed the signing of related cooperation documents.
