State councilor meets Saudi king, crown prince

State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe met with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in Riyadh on March 27.

Wei said China’s relations with Saudi Arabia were important, and the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership was developing well.

China’s Belt and Road Initiative was in line with Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030”, which enjoyed broad prospects for cooperation, he said.

He also said the relations between the Chinese and Saudi armed forces had developed well and yielded many results.

China is willing to work with Saudi armed forces to implement the consensus between the leaders of the two countries, expand pragmatic cooperation in various fronts, and promote the relations between the two armed forces, he said

Salman said Saudi Arabia and China had a long history of friendship, and the strategic relations between the two countries were developing continuously.

The two countries were important partners based on the Belt and Road Initiative, he said, adding that his country looked forward to boosting economic, trade and military cooperation with China, and jointly promote regional peace and stability.

Mohamed said cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China had yielded fruitful results in various fronts, and, in the future, Saudi Arabia was willing to promote cooperation with China in politics, economy, and security.

Military cooperation was an important cornerstone of bilateral relations, he said, expressing his hope that more pragmatic cooperation between the two military forces could be launched and more cooperation fields be explored.
