China is willing to develop a military relationship suitable to the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Gabon, said State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Chang Wanquan on Dec 8.

Chang made the remarks when meeting with Gabonese Minister of Presidential Affairs and National Defense Etienne Massard in Beijing.

Last year, President Xi Jinping and Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba both decided to promote the bilateral ties to the comprehensive cooperative partnership, which sets the development direction for the relations between the two sides, said Chang.

Massard congratulated on the successful convening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and on President Xi’s re-election as the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

Gabon sticks to one-China policy and hopes that China will continue support Gabon’s development, Massard added.
