State Councilor Chang meets Angolan vice-president

State Councilor Chang Wanquan said China is willing to work with Angola to promote pragmatic cooperation in various sectors, including the military.

Chang, who is also minister of defense, met with Angolan Vice-President Manuel Domingos Vicente on July 13 in Luanda, capital of Angola.

He said China and Angola have long-lasting friendship and cooperation. Both sides have collaborated closely on regional and international issues. And, in past years, the military relationship of the two countries has been developing smoothly, he said.

Vicente asked Chang to extend the goodwill of Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to President Xi Jinping. Vicente said Angola-China ties have a solid foundation, and it is important to maintain world peace and stability.

Angola thanked China for its support of the country’s reconstruction and economic development, appreciated the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to join strategies with China under the framework, in order to benefit two peoples, he said

During his visit in Luanda, Chang also held talks with his counterpart, Minister of National Defense João Lourenço.
