State councilor meets Qatari and Malaysian defense ministers

State Councilor Chang Wanquan called for deepening military cooperation when meeting Qatari Defense Minister Khalid al-Attiyah and Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, respectively, in Beijing on Oct 31.

Chang said China has been attaching greater importance to military relations with Qatar. The bilateral military cooperation has gained momentum in recent years and Beijing is willing to take it to the next level.

Khalid al-Attiyah also expressed Doha’s willingness to make headway towards deepening military cooperation between the two countries.

Chang commented on the pragmatic military cooperation between China and Malaysia and emphasized China’s willingness to push it forward for world peace.

Hishammuddin said that Kuala Lumpur also plans to strengthen military cooperation with Beijing in fields such as defense consultation, military exercise and warship visits.
