Chinese police should be more loyal and professional, said Guo Shengkun, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, at a meeting on June 23.

Guo asked the police force to adhere unswervingly to the Party’s leadership.

Apart from loyalty, professional ability is also very important, he said. On one hand, more training should be offered in order to build a competent police force. And on the other hand, the law enforcement by police should be standardized, so that they can work in a just and civilized way.

Meanwhile, he called for the reform of the police job security system, vowing to enhance the quality of life of police officers.

He also emphasized integrity among police. “We should continue fighting corruption,” said Guo.
