State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with visiting British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond on Jan 6.

Yang said bilateral ties have steered into a golden era following President Xi Jinping’s successful visit to the United Kingdom in 2015.

“China is willing to work with the UK to enhance communication, cooperation and cultural exchanges while jointly combating global challenges,” Yang said.

Hammond said the UK will work closely with China to carry out what was agreed by leaders of the two countries.
