SHENZHEN — The State Council, China’s cabinet, on Dec 21 called for all-out efforts to ensure a smooth, fast rescue mission following the landslide on Dec 20 in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong province.

The State Council has dispatched a team of senior officials and experts to the city to oversee and help rescue work. State Councilor Wang Yong is leading the team.

Wang urged all government organs to verify the missing people, deploy the best medical resources for the injured, resettle those that have been displaced and investigate the disaster as soon as possible.

He also visited the injured and affected, and extended his sympathy on behalf of the central government.

A massive landslide hit an industrial park in Shenzhen at 11:40 am on Dec 20, which has caused 16 people being injured, and 85 people were missing as of 6 pm on Dec 21.
