China, Ecuador pledge closer military cooperation

State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Ecuadorean Defense Minister Fernando Cordero on Nov 18 in Beijing, vowing to strengthen bilateral military cooperation.

Hailing military cooperation of the two countries in such fields as logistics, medical treatment and personnel training in recent years, Chang said that China is willing to further strengthen military exchanges and cooperation with Ecuador to push bilateral military ties to a new level.

The bilateral strategic partnership established last year after a meeting between President Xi Jinping and Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa marked a new chapter in bilateral relations, said Chang.

Cordero said he hopes the two countries can further cooperation in defense and military fields to continue pushing forward bilateral military relations.
