Chinese authority uses social media to identify illegal social organizations

BEIJING — The Ministry of Civil Affairs on June 26 launched a mini-program on Chinese social media WeChat for citizens to identify and report illegal social organizations.

The mini-program collects basic information for more than 830,000 social organizations in China, with 2,301 national social organizations included, according to the ministry.

Information including administrative license and punishment, assessment, award as well as credit records for national social organizations are open for public viewing in the mini-program, said the ministry.

The mini-program also offers various functions such as credit management and online courses.

The ministry said it will continue to improve and upgrade the mini-program.
