Premier Li Keqiang said the government will double efforts to streamline administration, transform functions and boost efficiency. The aim is to spur economic vitality and attract overseas investment. He made the remarks at a national teleconference at the State Council on May 9.
Premier Li said one of the government’s key objectives is to realize market potential and ensure sustainable economic development. Since 2013, more than 600 items from State Council agencies have been canceled or delegated to lower approval levels.
But the Premier said that there is still much work to be done. He urged for the transformation of government functions to improve social equality and justice, as well as stronger supervision to tackle illegal activities.
He also stressed that the government should optimize services and increase efficiency to improve people’s livelihoods.
