Premier Li Keqiang has met a former senior Taiwan official on the sidelines of the Boao forum. Vincent Siew is now Honorary Chairman of Cross-Straits Common Market Foundation and a member of the Kuomintang Party member.
Premier Li said the mainland’s policy on Taiwan has not changed. He said the 1992 Consensus is the political basis for peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, and both the mainland and Taiwan will benefit from a stable environment.
Premier Li called for joint efforts to maintain peace and enhance cooperation in all areas. Siew said he is willing to continue to promote cross-Strait economic cooperation on the basis of the achievements made in past eight years, so as to contribute more to the revival of the Chinese nation.
