Premier meets Japan’s National Security Advisor

Premier Li Keqiang met with the head of Japan’s National Security Council, Shotaro Yachi, in Beijing on July 17. Premier Li said the ties between China and Japan are important to not only the people from both countries, but also the regional peace, stability and prosperity.

He said China hopes Japan can keep its promises on historical issues and seriously address the concerns of the Asian countries which suffered from the war. This years marks the 70th anniversary of victory of Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Agreession as well as the world’s anti-fascist war.

He said the Chinese government is willing to promote the strategic relationship of mutual benefit with Japan, improve understanding and manage the conflicts and differences, so as to get the relations back to track. He still pointed out that China always sticks to the road of peaceful development, calling on Japan to play its due role in regional peace and development.

Shotaro Yachi said Japan is willing to face the historical issues and keep communication with China to enhance the bilateral ties.
