Premier Li Keqiang calls for stronger China-EU cooperation

On June 29, Premier Li Keqiang called for stronger cooperation between China and the EU in the field of urbanization.

Li was at the EU-China Urbanization Partnership Forum where he cited the huge achievements of China on this front. He noted that China has increased its urbanization rate from 18 percent in 1978 to 55 percent in 2014.

Li said China’s rapid urbanization provides a variety of opportunities for European countries, particularly in areas of developing low carbon cities, energy efficiency and environmental protection.

The Premier also called on both sides to strengthen cooperation in research and development of core technology that will be used to promote urbanization.
