Premier Li Keqiang, who is at the scene of the accident and is directing the rescue operation, has urged rescuers to make every effort to save the lives of those still trapped.
At a meeting with officials from various departments and rescue teams on the night of June 2, Premier Li listed the priorities for the rescue work.
He instructed rescue forces to continue their work throughout the night, adding that divers should repeatedly go under water and comb the shipwreck in a bid to find more survivors.
Li said rescue efforts will be further strengthened and urged all relevant departments to coordinate in the mission. Further medical staff, including psychologists, will be sent to the site to treat the injured people.
The Premier also said the State Council will set up an investigation team to find out the cause of the tragedy.
