Indian PM Modi’s selfie with Premier Li goes viral

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit is also attracting attention for another reason. This selfie with Premier Li Keqiang taken on May 15. It was taken by Modi with the Temple of Heaven in the background.

The photo was shared more than 50,000 times after Modi posted it on his Chinese microblog account. In the message, Modi writes “It’s selfie time, Thanks Premier Li”. Many microblog users reacted with the selfie, saying “Cute Premier”.

Modi has made it somewhat of a ritual to take selfies in every country he visits. Ahead of his visit to China, Modi opened his account on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

In Mandarin, Modi said he hopes to talk with Chinese weibo users through the platform and hopes Asian countries can usher in an Asian century.
