Premier Li hails Sino-Malaysian friendship and cooperation

China is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with Malaysia, Premier Li Keqiang said when he met Abu Zahar, the country’s senate president, in Beijing on May 6.

The Premier said that China and Malaysia are friends and partners, and the Chinese government attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Malaysia. China is willing to strengthen government, parliament, party and people-to-people exchanges with the country, and deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

The two sides should commit to maintaining regional peace, stability and development, and reaching mutually beneficial and win-win results, the Premier said.

Both China and Malaysia have made development the top priority, and China is willing to cooperate with Malaysia to facilitate economic development in both countries, said the Premier.

China, which has advanced production capacity, is willing to collaborate with Malaysia and there is great potential in the construction of infrastructure such as railways, highways and electricity, the Premier said.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations gets priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy, China welcomes ASEAN to build the first sub-regional community in Asia, and hopes that during its rotating ASEAN presidency, Malaysia will make new contributions to the development of the strategic partnership between China and the regional bloc, Premier Li said.

Abu Zahar agreed that Malaysia enjoys good relationship with China.

He said that Malaysia is willing to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchanges and further improve relations, and that China and the ASEAN can further cooperation in fields such as trade, culture and education.
