Viewing a progress chart for the safe drinking water project in rural areas at the Ministry of Water Resources on Nov 24, Premier Li Keqiang said: “It’s a basic requirement that what people drink is clean and safe water, which reflects the government’s credibility and is an essential government obligation,”

The Premier stressed that he made a solid commitment in the 2014 Government Work Report that the government will resolve the drinking water problem for an extra 60 million residents, adding the government will fulfill the commitment with quality and by the due date, “without any ‘reduction’ in quality or quantity”.
