Premier Li meets Laotian prime minister

Premier Li Keqiang held talks with his Laotian counterpart, Thongloun Sisoulith, who came to attend the 2019 annual conference of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) in Haikou, South China’s Hainan province, on March 27.

Premier Li said this year marks the 10th anniversary of China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership. China is willing to work with Laos to establish closer high-level links regarding exchanges in governance experience, to forge a community with a shared future.

He said China is ready to enhance coordination between the Belt and Road Initiative and Laos’ development strategies. Documents on bilateral economic corridor will finish being drafted as soon as possible, and efforts will be made to complete the China-Laos railway construction.

China will encourage enterprises to participate in Laos’ economic construction based on market principles to achieve win-win results, the Premier said.

Thongloun said Laos and China are a community of shared future. Next month, Laotian President Boungnang Vorachith will visit China and attend the second Belt and Road Summit, he said. And Laos is willing to work with China to push forward construction of the economic corridor and Laos-China railway to bring more benefits to the people.

Xiao Jie, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, also attended the meeting.
