Premier Li Keqiang met with visiting Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno on Dec 13 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

China and Ecuador have strengthened their mutual political trust and enjoyed the fruitful results of win-win cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations 38 years ago, Premier Li said.

On Dec 12 President Xi Jinping talked with Moreno and outlined the blueprint for the development of bilateral ties, said the Premier, adding that China stands ready to work with Ecuador to take the comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs.

Premier Li said China and Ecuador complement each other in terms of economic development and that he sees wide scope for further cooperation.

China, he said, is willing to connect its Belt and Road Initiative with Ecuador’s development strategy, and make use of the existing cooperation mechanisms to deepen cooperation in key fields.

He added that the two sides should follow market principles and international rules in economic and trade cooperation, balance trade growth, and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

He also expressed hope that Ecuador can create a better business environment for Chinese enterprises for win-win benefits, Premier Li said.

Moreno said Ecuador and China have always respected and supported each other since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Ecuador is pleased to see China’s huge achievements in development and firmly supports the one-China policy, he said.

He also paid tribute to China’s support for Ecuador’s economic and social development, and expressed his country’s willingness to work with China under the Belt and Road Initiative, and further develop bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ecuador welcomes Chinese enterprises and will provide solid legal guarantees and a positive business environment, he said.
