Premier Li Keqiang sent a congratulatory letter to the United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC),which was held in Deqing in East China’s Zhejiang province on Nov 19.

Premier Li said geospatial information plays an important role in economic and social development. The deep integration between geospatial information technology and new information technologies, such as the internet, big data and cloud computing, enhances the development of new economic growth drivers, new industries and new applications.

The Chinese government has actively participated in and supported cooperation in global geographic information and appreciates the United Nations’ efforts in coordinating and managing geospatial information and promoting sustainable development in the world, the Premier said.

China will continue to work with all other countries to expand cooperation on geographic information to serve global governance, promote sustainable development, improve human well-being and build a human community of a shared future, Premier Li said.

He also expressed hope that the congress will contribute to expanding the global application of geospatial information and promoting its innovative development.
