Premier Li meets Laotian president on cooperation

Premier Li Keqiang met with Laotian President Bounnhang Vorachit, also general secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, on May 31 in Beijing.

Premier Li said the two countries are good neighbors, and their relationship has been lifted to a new stage since President Xi Jinping and Bounnhang held a fruitful meeting on May 30.

Currently, China and Laos continue to deepen mutual political trust with more pragmatic cooperation on the way, the Premier said.

He suggested that both sides should strengthen mutual respect and support, further develop the long-term friendship between the two countries and parties, and build a China-Laos community of a shared future.

The Premier said the two sides should make joint efforts to promote cooperation in key fields such as transportation infrastructure, agriculture, education and tourism, and make headway in expanding the China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership.

China supports competent and reputable Chinese enterprises to invest in Laos in a way that achieves win-win results, Premier Li added.

As China’s comprehensive strategic partner, the Laotian side welcomes China’s remarkable progress, said Bounnhang, who also expressed gratitude to China’s long-standing support and help to Laos.

He called on the two sides to promote cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, education and sanitation, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, to contribute to the relationship and cooperation between the two countries and parties.
