Premier Li Keqiang took part in a panel discussion on March 4 with political advisers from the economic and agricultural sectors who attended the first session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body.

The Premier applauded the great achievements in the country’s economic and social development during the past five years, and said he appreciated contributions made by CPPCC members.

He stressed the importance of high-quality development in pushing forward innovative reform and opening-up.

The business environment should be improved as administrative reform is deepened to stimulate market vitality and creativity at all levels of society, according to the Premier.

“Human resources are key in promoting innovation, which should be fully motivated so that entrepreneurship and mass innovation can be upgraded and new industries and forces that drive growth fostered,” he said.

Economic structure should be optimized with the focus on real economy, to accelerate transformation and upgrades.

To revitalize rural areas, the Premier said that supply-side structural reform should be prioritized, through which the industry’s competitiveness can be enhanced, the mechanism for purchasing and storing agriculture products can be improved, and farmers’ income be constantly increased.
